I have installed these l-48F bulbs in elevators in our building and have reduced the energy consumption from 300 watts to 18 watts, 24/7. These white lights work better than the L-39 warm white floods ( not quite enough light for the elevator, although the energy consumption for that particular elevator is 6 watts @24/7. My estimate concludes that we will save $3000 a year on energy use for 6 elevators ( 23.5 cents a KW hour in Hawaii), bulb replacement(1000 hours vs 60,000 hrs) plus labor costs (not factored in). Not sure yet on the duration of the bulbs life since the bulbs have only been in for 4 months and the advertised life should be between 7-10 years.
I have also started putting these bulbs in my kids and my refrigerator, which use 3 watts instead of 40 and generates virtually no heat, while the 40 watt bulbs are too hot to touch after appx 10 seconds of light being on. I am trying numerous bulbs around the house in several applications, and prefer the warm white over the pure white. I am just getting ready to order the new GU 10 3 LED which gives out 3X more light than the previous lights that I have ordered and used. jimskyguy1@yahoo.com
